BAL INSA Lyon
Technical Manager of the Graduation Gala
About This Event
The BAL is an elegant annual evening organized for INSA students in Lyon. Around 2,000 students gather to enjoy a memorable night and dance until 4 a.m. The event offers a wide range of activities, with the highlights being two stages hosting around fifteen live performances.
On the ground floor stage (the smaller one), student musicians from the school or local artists perform. The main stage upstairs welcomes well-known artists playing for a large student audience.
In our edition, we had Tsew The Kid performing live, and in previous years, the BAL has also hosted artists such as Kungs and Brume.
Role & Responsibilities
What makes the BAL’s technical organization so unique? Almost no external contractors are involved! At INSA Lyon, a dedicated group called the Technical Section trains students to master sound and lighting for events. They handle 90% of the technical operations on the night of the event.
With a total budget of €80,000, the BAL allocates over €20,000 solely to technical aspects. As Technical Manager, my role was to build a team and prepare every technical detail of the evening. This included drafting technical plans, creating detailed schedules, and coordinating with suppliers to ensure all equipment arrived on time for the big day.
It’s an intense and meticulous preparation where every detail matters, but it’s also this passionate teamwork that ensures the success and magic of such an unforgettable night!
