Automated Etch A Sketch

When I found this childhood game at the bottom of a drawer, I immediately knew I had to do something with it! I remembered how hard it was to draw a perfect circle using only the two knobs of the Etch A Sketch, each one controlling the horizontal and vertical axes…

What if I connected a motor to each control knob? That way, I could draw anything I wanted by telling the motors exactly what to do! Without hesitation, I ordered motors, an Arduino board, and some electronic components, and got to work.

By processing an image and calculating the shortest path the stylus needed to take to draw it in a single stroke, I finally managed, after days of thought and coding to make my Etch A Sketch draw anything I wanted!

PS: This project definitely deserves a revisit, as there’s a lot of room for improvement!
